Hello friends! Welcome or welcome back to my channel. If you are new here, my name is Amy, and I am a flight attendant. Today, I want to share some of my craziest experiences from my time in the skies. Grab your favorite drink and settle in because it’s about to get turbulent!
First Encounter with a Drunk Passenger
One of my wildest stories took place on a flight from Chicago back to LaGuardia. It was the end of a long trip, and my crew was exhausted. As we were boarding the plane, the gate agent informed us that a passenger had been reported as drunk. We can’t allow intoxicated people on board for safety reasons, especially since one drink on the ground is equivalent to two in the air.
We searched the airplane but couldn’t find her. Just as we were about to give up, I heard someone dry heaving during my safety briefing. I looked around and spotted a woman hunched over, clearly not in a good state. After talking with her husband, we realized she was too intoxicated to fly. We had to return to the gate, and her husband had to carry her off the plane. It was quite the sight!
Surviving Severe Turbulence
Another memorable experience was during a flight back to LaGuardia when we hit severe turbulence. The captain warned us, and I was in the back of the aircraft with the beverage cart. Suddenly, he instructed all flight attendants to be seated immediately. I barely made it to my jump seat when we hit a massive air pocket that lifted me off my seat!
My colleague in the front managed to sit down just in time, but it was chaos. For the last 20 minutes, we were stuck in our seats, unable to assist passengers. After landing, I discovered that someone had gotten sick due to the turbulence, and it created quite a mess in the cabin. A hazmat team was called in to clean it up. I wouldn’t recommend severe turbulence to anyone!
A Lesson in Seatbelt Safety
On another flight from Chicago to LaGuardia, I came across a young boy who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. I politely asked him to buckle up, but his father intervened, insisting I couldn’t tell his son what to do. I explained that the aircraft couldn’t take off until everyone was buckled in. The father continued to be difficult, even unbuckling his own seatbelt to prove a point.
Eventually, I had to call the captain, and we returned to the gate to have them removed. It’s essential for everyone to wear their seatbelts for safety, whether in a car or a plane!
An Unfortunate Bathroom Incident
One of the craziest incidents happened on a flight from Salt Lake to Albuquerque. I was putting away the beverage cart when a lady approached the restroom. I asked her to knock before exiting so I could move the cart. Instead, she barged out without knocking, causing the cart to tip over and my head to get caught between the cart and the galley wall.
I immediately felt nauseous and had to run to the restroom to throw up. Afterward, I was worried I had a concussion and ended up spending a week in a dark room to recover. The best part? When that same woman came out and thanked me for blocking the door as if it was intentional!
